God has a funny way of sometimes throwing curveballs at us that we didn’t expect.

For Jonathan, the idea of planting a church in Fredericksburg wasn’t something that was on the 10-year plan at any point. He had graduated from the University of Valley Forge, majoring in youth ministry, and had joyously served as youth pastor at two very different churches before experiencing an unmistakable calling from God to move to Fredericksburg to plant Alive Church.

In the faith-filled journey of leaving the shores of the familiar for the uncertain waters of God’s leading, Jonathan not only got to see the Lord miraculously build that church, but it also gave him the chance to meet his wife Madeline in that process. She has faithfully served on the team from day 1! They’ve served this church alongside each other through its various seasons as a church, but also through their various seasons: dating, engaged, married, navigating the difficulties of infertility, joyously beginning to grow their family, and learning what it looks like to parent little ones while still being passionately devoted to pastoring, loving, and leading their church well.
